i dyed my hair for the first time

I always had very long, beautiful, and shiny hair as mentioned by the people around me. Almost all of them admired it a lot and it always used to be a sense of pleasure to me. As people loved my hair, I loved them even more. I never thought of giving my hair to the hands of others rather than myself. I never even had any hair treatment or hair cut from any hair salon. Moreover, I had seen all of my friends going to a hair salon, getting haircuts, hair dyes, highlights, keratin treatments, etc. And on the other hand, I was the one who never knew anything about these things. All I knew was to comb them daily, washing them, and doing the oiling regularly.

One day, one of my friends came to the college and she showed her pretty new blonde hair highlights. They looked so glossy and awesome. I just loved them. And even all of the other girls there were so obsessed with that and they all circled around her and started to talk to her about everything she had done to get that gorgeous hair. I was standing far away from them and just looking at them. However, I don’t know what I had in my head.

Furthermore, time passed and after some days, another friend of mine had come with beautiful caramel-colored highlights. She was also noticed and appreciated by all the girls around there. And with the passage of time, the girls started to get their hair dyed and highlighted in a lot of different colors. And then, it had almost become a trend around. Moreover, I felt like they all had forgotten my hair. So, after thinking about it for a lot of days, I decided to dye my hair too. Was it any inspiration? Or jealousy? I don’t know. But I just wanted to do them. I wanted that glossy and sexy hair color too.

However, I talked to one of my friends about the hair dye brands and we found out the most relevant colors matching my skin tone and the coloring products that would leave their best results.

I went to the mall, looked for the hair dye section. I found it on the left side of the second floor. It contained various hair dyeing products with a lot of different and vibrant colors. I wanted a very cheap color that would last a little longer. At first, I could not guess what to buy, but later on, I took Revlon’s deep burgundy shade 34 out of the rack. I went to the counter and paid its amount.

I was so happy with the color. This shade was my most favorite. And I had got it with a reasonable amount.

Now, it was time to apply it to my hair. I did not how to do that. So, asked a girl from the hair salon to do that. And she said that according to the salon policies they would charge 5000 rupees. And I was not happy with that. I had no money for such a hair dye. And I knew that my mother would not allow me either. So, I decided to do it on own my own.

I went to the bathroom. I unboxed the hair dye. It contained two different bottles. One had the color activator and the other had the main color cream. The description demanded them to be blended or mixed together in any other bowl or in one of the bottles that were pointed from the cap. Its cap was the point where it could have been opened in order to apply it to the hair. So, I mixed the two in a different bowl. After I was done with the mixing, I made some sections of my hair so that I could easily apply it to them. I had seen a lot of hair color application tutorials on YouTube before that. Therefore, I knew that it would be easy to apply in sections for maximum coverage of the hair.

Likewise, I had made the sections of my hair tying the unwanted hair with a plastic clip. I released each section every time I wanted to apply color to it and then tie it back with the colored section. It was actually fun to play with your own hair. Therefore, I was enjoying it. People on the YouTube videos did it all together quickly, but I did it all with some more time.

Now, after thirty minutes of application, I was done with it. And then I waited for forty-five minutes for it as it was mentioned in the description of the application.

I went to the bathroom again and washed it all off of my hair with shampoo and then I applied the conditioner in the box for better results.

Later on, I blow-dried my hair with the blow drier so that I could see the color as soon as possible. “The color only appears when they get dried completely.” as mentioned by some people in the tutorials of YouTube.

However, after some minutes of blow-drying, my hair was completely dry. It seemed more soft and light. I could barely feel their weight on my head.

While I was combing the messed up hair I decided to straighten them as well. However, I did everything I wanted to. Suddenly, my sister entered the room and asked me the usual question, “Hey! What’s up?” I said that I died my hair burgundy. She came forward and looked all around me and said, “Really? They don’t seem to be dead.” I was freaked. I went to the mirror and looked at them again and again, but could not feel the color either.

I was disappointed… I did not know what to say.

We went outside under the sunlight with a small pocket mirror to see if the color comes out there. But as I went out, I could not find the sun either. It was almost dusk. So, I got in and I was worried that I had lost my money. But deep down I was happy that I did not waste money to get it done from the salon. That gave me a sigh of relief.

On the next day, I went directly to the sun when I got up. I could barely feel the new color on my head. It seemed that I had just conditioned my hair with a very good conditioner.

All of my efforts were in vain. I was simply not happy with the results. I did not even know what would have been happened to it. I followed all the rules and instructions, but still, it did not work.

I went to college and asked my friend that I did it all but it did not work the way it did for my other friends. And she figured it out, that I had not applied at the exact time and did not apply it accurately on all the hair. And she also mentioned that kids like us won’t be able to do it as good as professionals.

However, I had learned to do it accurately the next time. I won’t give up here.
